Irene Petrou is an Associate Registered and Licensed Forensic Psychologists and holds a BSc(Hons) Psychology and MSc Forensic Psychologist.  She is also Certified Training in EMDR Therapy (Levels 1 and 2).

Ms Petrou is instructed as an Independent Expert Witness Psychologist in the Cypriot Courts and is licensed to provide reports in both Greek and English.  She has experience in assisting in report writing and assessments.  Miss Petrou has completed training at ‘Agia Skepi’, a therapeutic community for drug users in Cyprus where she has interviewed and assessed adolescents and adults with regards to their risk of violence and other deviant behaviours.

Miss Petrou has experience of working in a neurology and psychiatric clinic where her responsibilities included conducting clinical diagnostic interviews with patients, administration of psychometric tests such as depression, anxiety and PTSD and preparation of topic materials for substance misuse focus groups.

Miss Petrou’s experience involves group sessions at elementary, middle and high schools with children and adolescents who presented deviant behaviours.  Lastly, working with the Red Cross Cyprus Miss Petrou has experience in a Refugee Camp and a Detention Centre where she provided psychosocial support through open group sessions based on research informed protocols.
